About Indivisible Troy
Mission Statement
Troy Indivisible’s mission is to stand in solidarity and resistance with all who face oppression—locally, nationally, and internationally. As a group of dedicated volunteers, we aim to build a strong and strategic movement. We will actively work toward a shared vision of a true democracy—of, by, and for the people. To realize this, we will coordinate and collaborate with organizations, institutions, and other Indivisible groups whenever possible to work together on advocacy, elections, and national Indivisible campaigns as deemed appropriate by the membership.
We embrace progressive values. We will model inclusion, respect, and fairness in all of our actions. We are committed to nonviolence as a guiding principle in everything we do: our protest, our organizing, and our advocacy.
Organization
Troy Indivisible has four committees: Membership, Events, Public Engagement, and Communication.
- The Membership committee handles onboarding new members into the organization.
- The Public Engagement committee works to increase our connection with other local groups and members of our community.
- The Events committee plans all of our varied events from rallies to fundraiser concerts and more, along with any events we collaborate and co-sponsor with other groups.
- The Communication committee takes care of our weekly newsletter and this website.
Other Functions
We also have four working groups: Postcarding, Civics, a reading group, and an Advisory Panel.
- Postcarding: An ever-growing number of people participate in our postcarding group, which sends hand-written postcards in support of issue campaigns and to help get out the vote.
- Civics: Focuses on engaging our members with their local government and gaining information about what issues their community is facing.
- Reading Group: Started off almost as a support group while reading Project 2025, and has since expanded to other reading materials.
- Advisory Panel: Works through the larger issues facing the organization, whether it’s an interpersonal conflict, a proposed change to the bylaws, or thinking ahead to the future of Troy Indivisible.
